Efland, N.C. — A wreck involving two vans and a sailboat injured four people and tied up traffic on Interstate 40 West in Orange County Saturday afternoon.
A Dodge Caravan rear-ended a Chevrolet van hauling a boat around 4:30 p.m. near mile marker 161 in Efland, shortly after I-40 merges with Interstate 85, according to the state Highway Patrol. The Chevrolet overturned.
The Dodge driver, Christina Williams, 29, of Mebane, and her two children were transported to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Williams was in good condition Saturday evening, and the children had been discharged.
The Chevrolet driver, Kenneth Mitchell Jr., 61, of Webster, Fla., was treated and released from Duke University Hospital.
Charges were pending in the wreck, troopers said.
