Two teenagers shot in Clayton

The Johnston County Sheriff's Office was investigating a reported shooting in a neighborhood near Clayton late Sunday night.

CLAYTON, N.C. — The Johnston County Sheriff's Office says two 16-year-old boys were shot in a neighborhood near Clayton Sunday night.

Deputies responded to a home on Sequoia Drive in the Sierra Heights subdivision around 10:30 p.m. after a neighbor reported hearing several gunshots.

The neighbor told WRAL News he was sitting in his garage about two doors down from scene of the shooting when he heard four or five nearby gunshots and a woman's screams.

Deputies said the teenagers were taken to a local hospital for treatment of serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Maynor Flores-Salinas, 20, of Clayton, was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injuries. He is being held under a $450,000 bond.
