Two teen dirt bike riders seriously injured after being hit by truck in Clayton

Two dirt bike riders have been transported to WakeMed after being hit by a truck in Clayton Saturday afternoon.

CLAYTON, N.C. — Two dirt bike riders have been transported to WakeMed after being hit by a truck in Clayton Saturday afternoon.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m, where an 18-year-old driver and 14-year-old sister were hit by a Ford pickup truck at Black Forest Drive and Trailing Oak Trail near Glen Laurel Road.

According to reports, the younger sister was riding on the back when the bike driver ran through a stop sign.

Both riders were transported to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the children's mother, the children suffered multiple injuries and her 14-year-old daughter suffered a broken leg.

Neither rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The driver of the dirt bike is facing pending charges.
