Two sought in assault using dog collar in Rocky Mount

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Rocky Mount police are looking for two people accused of assaulting a 29-year-old man with a dog collar. 

Aaron Brent Simmons, 28, of Wilson, and Amanda Louise Spencer, 30, face charges of common law robbery and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. 

The suspects and the victim are acquaintances.

Police said the suspects forced entry into the victim's home on Williford Street and assaulted him on Sunday. They tried to asphyxiate him with a dog collar, police said. 

The victim was able to escape and get help. 

The suspects took money, a phone and the victim's car, a 1993 Chevrolet Caprice, from the house, police said. The vehicle was found on Sunday at the Days Inn at 1340 N. Wesleyan Blvd.

Simmons and Spencer have not been located. Anyone with information about their whereabouts should call police at 252-972-1411 or Crime Stoppers at 252-977-1111.
