DUNN, N.C. — A three-vehicle wreck left two people in serious condition after a wreck at N.C. highways 55 and 242 in Dunn on Friday.

Sate Highway Patrol troopers said Joseph Bayfden, 26, of Benson, caused the wreck by running a stop sign while going south on N.C. 242. His Dodge pickup truck hit with a car going east on N.C. 55, which then was struck by another car headed north on N.C. 242.

The pickup truck caught fire after Bayfden and his 3-year-old son got out safely.

The driver of the car on N.C. 55, Roy English, 78, and his wife, Robbie English, 76, both of Wallace, were both flown to WakeMed in Raleigh. Robbie English was listed in critical condition Saturday, while Roy English's condition was not available.

Bayfden and his son were also transported to WakeMed. Their conditions were not known, but Bayfden appeared to have non-life-threatening injuries.

Two other occupants of the Englishes' car – a 39-year-old Roseboro woman and her 10-year-old daughter – were not injured, troopers said.

No one in car on N.C. 242 North were also uninjured.
