JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. — Highway Patrol has confirmed two people were killed in a head-on collision on I-95 Thursday afternoon.

The incident took place in Johnston County at Mile Marker 83, in Four Oaks, near Keen Road.

Reports say three vehicles were involved: a Box Truck, a pickup and an SUV.

According to the State Highway Patrol, the white box truck had a blowout while headed Northbound.

The driver lost control, plowed through the median, and hit a pickup truck head-on.

The two individuals in the pickup were killed and the two in the box truck were rushed to the hospital.

The SUV that was involved hit a trailer pulled by the box truck.

Sky 5 flew over the scene where traffic could be seen backed up for miles.

Officials say the estimated time is three hours before I-95 is entirely open back up.

An investigation into the crash is underway.
