DURHAM, N.C. — Two men were shot Tuesday afternoon as they sat in a car near the intersection of Cook Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Durham. A witness said the shooter approached the car, fired about nine shots then calmly walked away.

"They walked away like nothing happened. They walked away, relaxed, like nothing happened. That’s the part that threw me off," the woman, who did not want her name used, told WRAL News.

Police have not released the names of the men injured and no arrests have been made in the shootings. Police do not believe the attack was random.

The witness said gun violence in Durham is "a problem that needs to be dealt with." So far the city has seen 421 shootings, or an increase of about 47% from the year before.
