Two men shot in Spring Lake business; detectives say shooting was during a robbery

Two men were shot in Spring Lake at a business and one of the men died on Wednesday at around 2:30 p.m.

SPRING LAKE, N.C. — Two 20-year-old men were shot in Spring Lake at a business and one died on Wednesday at around 2:30 p.m.

The shooting took place at the 1100 block of North Bragg Boulevard and Southwinds Plaza. Officials believe that the motive of the shooting was a robbery.

Herbert Goodson, 20, from Columbia, South Carolina, died at the scene suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

Deshawn Jones, 20, from Fort Bragg, was shot in the leg, treated at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center and released.

Officials are still looking for the person responsible for the death of Goodson and the robbery. If anyone knows any information about the crime that took place, police ask them to contact Spring Lake detectives at 910-436-0350.
