Two men shot in Lumberton; police find 3rd victim shot to death at home

One person is dead and two others are in the hospital after a shooting in Lumberton on Sunday.

LUMBERTON, N.C. — One person is dead and two others are in the hospital after a shooting in Lumberton on Sunday.

Around 2:55 a.m. two people who had been shot arrived separately at UNC Health Southeastern.

An officer already at the hospital on another call was able to respond and begin gathering information. While gathering the information about how the two individuals got shot, the officer was told there was another person who was shot at a home on Nevada Street.

Additional officers were dispatched to 2131 Nevada Street, where they found a third individual who had been shot.

James Edward Blount Jr., 43, was pronounced dead at the scene. He lived at the house on Nevada Street where his body was found.

Nicholes Leggett, 43, of Fairmont was transferred to a hospital for treatment of his gunshot wounds.

Marcus Alford, 35, of Lumberton was also transferred to a hospital for treatment of his gunshot wounds.
