Ocracoke, N.C. — Two people died in separate incidents Wednesday on the North Carolina coast.
A man from Massachusetts died while swimming at Ocracoke Island at about 5 p.m.
That incident occurred about eight hours after a 55-year-old man from Benson drowned off Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
A bystander saw him on a small sandbar near Frisco at about 10 a.m., but he was then swept away.
Someone was able to pull the man’s body closer to the shore, but first responders were unable to resuscitate him.
Neither of the men have been identified.
