FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Fayetteville officials are investigating after two people were killed in a house fire Friday night.
Authorities said firefighters responded to a home on Lake Club Drive at about 7:30 p.m. and found heavy fire showing from the roof of the house.
Although the fire occurred while Tropical Storm Florence brought strong winds and heavy rain to the area, officials said it was too soon to determine if the fire was caused by weather conditions.
Authorities said that the severe weather conditions caused by Florence would prevent firefighters from investigating the cause of the blaze Friday night. A spokesperson said an investigation will be conducted once conditions improve and it is safe to enter the home.
Authorities did not identify the two people killed in the fire.
