SMITHFIELD, N.C. — Two Johnston County men have been arrested in connection with a home invasion that happened Sunday in the Coats Crossroads community west of Smithfield.

Johnston County sheriff's deputies arrested Kyle Anthonie Whiteside, 19, of Smithfield, and Kristopher Garrick Rubado, 21, of Selma, earlier this week and charged them with first-degree burglary, felony assault, common law robbery and felony conspiracy.

Deputies say Whiteside and Rubado broke into a home on Watson Road late Sunday, beat a man while he was sleeping and stole electronic items.

Whiteside is in the Johnston County jail under a $200,000 bond. Robado is being held under a $150,000 bond.

The Johnston County Sheriff's Ooffice is still searching for a third suspect in the robbery.
