A mini van approached the two vehicles and didn't respond in time. The mini van swerved, clipped a fourth vehicle and the broken down vehicle. That pinned the husband between his vehicle and his wife's vehicle. He and his wife, who have not been identified, were sent to the hospital.

The wife was expected to be OK and the husband was in serious condition with non-life threatening injuries.

Police told WRAL's Rosalia Fodera the driver of the mini van, who was also not identified, would be facing charges.
