ROBBINS, N.C. — Police are investigating the deaths of two people whose bodies were found Monday afternoon inside a burning house in Robbins.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired from a house at 581 E. Lake St. Monday afternoon found the house ablaze, officials said Wednesday.

Firefighters extinguished the fire and found two bodies inside. They have been sent to the State Medical Examiner's Office in Chapel Hill for identification and to determine the cause of death, officials said.

A 2-year-old child who was in the home at the time was rescued by a neighbor and treated at the scene, officials said.

A man who reportedly was shot at while fleeing the home was taken to a Raleigh hospital for treatment, officials said. His identity hasn't been released, and his condition was unknown.
