Earthquake strikes western NC

An earthquake was reported in North Carolina on Wednesday night.

HENDERSON COUNTY, N.C. — An earthquake was reported in North Carolina on Wednesday night.
A magnitude 2.7 quake struck in Henderson County around 10:23 p.m. The original magnitude was 2.1, but the USGS upgraded the earthquake to a 2.7.

Officials have not reported any damage, but the earthquake had some neighbors running out of their homes.

Outgoing Congressman Madison Cawthorn, who represents the region, offered prayers for anyone affected.
