DURHAM, N.C. — Two men were shot to death Monday morning in Durham, police said.

Investigators say the men got into an argument, with one another for a shooting.

Durham police received a call from a neighbor about a shooting at a home on Walton Street around 5 a.m.

Officers arrived and found a man with gunshot wounds in the driveway.

The man, identified as 27-year-old Dayshawn Montez Jones, died from his injuries at a hospital.

Shortly after finding Jones, police realized a man had barricade himself inside the home.

The sight of SWAT team members took Debbie Roberts by surprise.

“That probably scared me more than anything, when I saw the SWAT team come on out,” she said.

She and other neighbors were told to leave their homes.

After an hourlong standoff, police entered the home and found 31-year-old Stacey Lemar Breeze dead from a gunshot wound.

Roberts said she was troubled knowing the act of violence happened so close to her home.

“Durham has changed, but I think a lot of times when this violence happens, they know who they’re after,” she said.

Officers are not actively pursing any suspects, and there is no further danger to the public, police said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-683-1200.
