SANFORD, N.C. — Two people have been charged in connection with the death of a Sanford woman found dead in a parked car outside Central Carolina Hospital on Thursday afternoon.

Sanford police were called to the hospital at 1135 Carthage St. just after 4 p.m. Thursday after receiving a report that someone had been shot. Upon arrival, officers located the body of Imani Shabriyah Olivier, 20, in a car outside the emergency room entrance.

Olivier was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said Olivier had been shot at the Autumn Oaks Apartments at 250 Willow Oak Road and was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in a personal vehicle, but it was not clear if she drove herself or was taken there by another person before her death.

Tyrone Frederick Pegues, 18, of 1608 Mattie Road, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with Olivier’s death. He was being held at the Lee County Jail without bond and is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Ashley Nicole Murchison, 19, of 415 W. Garden Street, was charged with accessory after the fact to first-degree murder. She was being held at the Lee County Jail under $75,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court Monday.

Authorities did not say how Pegues or Murchison knew Olivier.
