HARNETT COUNTY, N.C. — Two people were injured following a wrong-way crash Wednesday night in Harnett County.

Authorities said a driver was traveling south in the northbound lane of N.C. Highway 421 when a car traveling north swerved to avoid it, and got side-swiped by another vehicle before being struck head-on by the wrong-way driver.

Troopers said that car overturned and wound up on the opposite side of the highway, where it was hit again by a southbound car.

The car traveling south also overturned as a result of the crash and landed on the side of the road, troopers said.

One person was taken to WakeMed and another was taken to Harnett Central Hospital with unknown injuries.

Troopers said charges are pending in the case.
