Bodies of soldier, veteran found in Fort Bragg training area
The bodies of two men were found Wednesday afternoon in a training area on Fort Bragg, authorities said.
Posted — UpdatedThe deaths, which are under investigation by special agents from the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command, weren't related to official unit training, authorities said.
The men were identified Friday as Master Sgt. William J. Lavigne II, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company of the U.S. Army Special Operations Command, and Army veteran Timothy Dumas, 44, of Pinehurst.
One body was flat on the ground. The other was wrapped up in a blanket by a pickup truck, according to a source familiar with the incident. They also said the bodies appeared to have been out there for some time.
Authorities released no other details, citing "the sensitive nature of the ongoing investigation."
