RALEIGH, N.C. — A shooting outside a gas station on South Saunders Street injured one man late Friday afternoon, police said.

Jonathan Lee Hemby, 31, was shot in the parking lot of a Crown gas station at Saunders and Granite streets around 4:40 p.m., police said.

Hemby was transported to WakeMed. The extent of his injuries was not disclosed.

Officers at the scene broadcast a description of two suspects and a vehicle they might be traveling in, said Jim Sughrue, a spokesman for the Raleigh Police Department.

A short time later, officers saw a car matching the description near Lake Wheeler Road and U.S. Highway 401, Sughrue said. They detained two suspects, whose names have not been released.

State troopers and personnel from the Wake County Sheriff's Office assisted in the case.

The investigation was ongoing, Sughrue said.
