Fayetteville, N.C. — Two people were arrested after an incident where a vehicle backed into a Fayetteville police officer early Sunday.
Police said an officer patrolling just after 3 a.m. noticed a vehicle parked on along a gravel road in the 600 block of South King Street. When the officer tried to make contact with the people inside the car, the vehicle backed up and struck the officer.
The officer, who was not seriously injured, ordered the driver to stop the car. When the driver did not stop, the officer shot at the vehicle.
No one was injured. The driver, identified as Kenneth Williams, 36, and his passenger, Sidney Osborne, 55, were taken into custody.
Williams and Osborne are charged with soliciting for the purpose of prostitution.
Police said additional charges are pending.
