RALEIGH, N.C.Tupelo Honey Cafe Executive Chef Andrew Davila is a Tim Burton fan, loves tattoos and is allergic to eggplant.

And he can make one tasty sandwich.

Out and About went into the kitchen with Davila to learn more about the Cameron Village restaurant's new menu offerings and get the scoop on what it is like to be a chef.

In the accompanying videos, Davila makes three dishes from the cafe's new menu:

Southern Shakshuka - Two baked eggs and creole sauce served over goat cheese grits and topped with avocado
Debutante Duck Confit - Goodnight Brothers country ham proscuitto, duck, Gruyère cheese served on challah bread and topped with two fried eggs
Red Wine Glazed Short Rib - Served with roasted tri-color carrots, fingerling potatoes over spring pea cream

"We rolled out our new brunch menu about a month ago," said Davila. "It’s very, very southern but revamped in a way that you’re not looking at it as 'I can go somewhere else and get the exact same thing.'"

"I love this, I love making things from scratch. I think that’s why I love Tupelo so much. We’re never coasting, we’re always going 'this is great, but let’s do better.'"
