RALEIGH, N.C. — Tuesday will start pleasant but transition into muggier, hotter weather, meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said.

Tuesday’s high will be 81 degrees, and humidity will feel tolerable thanks to cool air moving in from the northeast.

But a cold front is approaching North Carolina from the west, which will bring the Triangle’s best chance of rain on Wednesday.

A stationary front along the North Carolina-South Carolina border will move northward, too.

Wednesday's high will be 87 degrees, and showers and storms are possible in the evening.

While the cold front won’t bring cold air, lower humidity levels will move in again Thursday.

The end of the work week will have sunny skies, and the weekend looks nice and clear, Gardner said.
