Two people injured in crash on Tryon Road in Raleigh

Tryon Road was closed near Hammond Road Thursday morning after two people were injured in a crash.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Tryon Road was closed near Hammond Road Thursday morning after two people were injured in a crash.

Officers with the Raleigh Police Department responded to a crash at the intersection of Tryon Road and Durham Drive around 5:45 a.m.

Police said a 2006 Toyota ran a stop sign at the intersection and was hit by a 2015 Chevrolet SUV. The Toyota ended up in a grassy field off the road, and a passenger pinned inside the car had to be cut out.

Tryon Road closed in Raleigh after passenger injured in car crash

The Toyota's driver and passenger were taken to WakeMed in Raleigh for treatment. The SUV driver suffered minor injuries but wasn't taken to a hospital.

Tryon Road was shut down between South Wilmington Street and Hammond Road for a while Thursday morning.
