NEW BERN, N.C. — If you're up for a drive, Tryon Palace will be hosting its family-friendly All Hallows' Eve on Saturday, Oct. 24.

Activities run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the palace grounds, and costumes are encouraged. The event is designed for kids ages 12 and under.

While taking a tour, you might encounter, according to a press release, the Headless Horseman as he searches for Ichabod Crane, the ghost of a soldier lost in battle, and a witch brewing up a savory concoction or spell. A marionette show will feature some "strange and unusual characters" too.

To follow safety guidelines, reserved tickets for admittance are offered in time slots to maintain the state's Phase 3 guidelines for capacity, according to the release. Tickets are $4 for youth ages 13 to 18, and $10 for adults. It's free to kids, ages 12 and under, who attend in costume.

Ticketed time slots are offered on the hour and on the half hour, with the last group session at 2:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on Tryon Palace's website or by calling the Ticket Office at (252) 639-3524. Visitors are asked to wear a mask, stay six feet apart and wash their hands often while there.

New Bern is two hours from Raleigh.
