APEX, N.C. — An Apex man said a sign in his yard supporting President Donald Trump has been repeatedly vandalized.

The wooden sign calls for the reelection of Trump and also endorses Republicans Dan Forest and Mark Robinson. Although it has been defaced with spray paint multiple times, it still stands at the corner of Olive Chapel Road and Apex Peakway.

Recent messages painted on the sign include BLM for "Black Lives Matter" and a profanity.

WRAL News confirmed the Apex Police Department has taken several reports from neighbors, but no suspects have been identified.

According to a Facebook post, a camera captured one of the incidents of vandalism. Police are investigating.

Joe Nodine, a self-proclaimed lifelong Republican, received an unsigned letter comparing the Trump sign in his yard to a swastika and likening him and other Trump supporters to members of the Ku Klux Klan.

Nodine also flies a Trump flag outside his front door.

"I'm not going to take anything down," he said. "It just really makes me mad, but you know, I got that right to get mad, I guess."

He called the Wake County Sheriff's Office but was told that, because there was no explicit threat to him or his family in the letter, deputies really couldn't do anything.
