WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump resumed his attacks Monday on James Comey, the former FBI director, and said that Comey, his former deputy and others “committed many crimes!”

The president — in his first Twitter post since the airing of Comey’s first public interview about his months serving in the Trump administration — did not specify which crimes he believed Comey and others committed.

“Comey drafted the Crooked Hillary exoneration long before he talked to her (lied in Congress to Senator G), then based his decisions on her poll numbers,” Trump wrote. “Disgruntled, he, McCabe, and the others, committed many crimes!”

In his tweet, Trump mentioned former Deputy FBI Director Andrew G. McCabe, whom Trump fired just before McCabe was eligible for his pension after 21 years at the bureau.

And the president referenced Comey’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state. Clinton, in part, blames Comey’s handling of the email case for her not winning the presidency.

In his Monday morning tweet, Trump accused Comey and McCabe of committing “many crimes.” It was posted just a few hours before the president’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, was to appear before a federal judge in New York related to an ongoing investigation into possible bank fraud.

In his five-hour interview with ABC’s chief anchor, George Stephanopoulos, on the program “20/20,” Comey said the president “treats women like they’re pieces of meat,” and “lies constantly about matters big and small.”

Trump has said repeatedly that Comey is a liar.

On Sunday, hours before the airing of Comey’s interview, Trump tweeted that Comey disclosed classified information and lied to Congress. Trump also said Comey was not smart and the “WORST FBI Director in history, by far!”

Comey has a new book coming out Tuesday about ethics, values and honesty. It includes some salacious details about Trump.
