Truck driver ejected, killed in Fayetteville crash

A truck driver died Tuesday night after a crash near Baywood Road and Murphy Road in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A truck driver died Tuesday night after a crash near Baywood Road and Murphy Road in Fayetteville.

Highway Patrol said that Sheila Taylor of Sanford was driving westbound on Murphy Road when she failed to stop at a stop sign. Her vehicle then collided with a septic tank truck that was going southbound on Baywood Road.

Upon impact, the driver of the truck, Darrick Carter of Fayetteville, was ejected from the vehicle. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died.

A passenger in the truck, Reginald Carter of Fayetteville, was injured and was in stable condition Tuesday night.

Highway Patrol officers said that charges are pending against Taylor.
