Pickup driver charged in school bus crash in Kenly, 4 children sent to hospital

Four students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a school bus crash in Kenly on Monday morning.

KENLY, N.C. — Four students were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a school bus crash in Kenly on Monday morning.

A spokesperson from Johnston County Public Schools said Bus 741, on its way to North Johnston Middle School, was involved in a crash on Weaver Road before 8 a.m.

There were 26 students on the bus in total.

Truck driver charged in school bus crash in Kenly, 4 children sent to hospital

The N.C. State Highway Patrol said a black pickup truck crashed into the back of the bus. The driver of the truck was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Officials said the bus driver was not responsible for the crash.
