On Monday around 1:13 p.m., North Carolina State Highway Patrol was notified by the Rock Hill Police Department about a child abduction involving a 5-year-old girl that had occurred in Rock Hill, SC.

Rock Hill Police said just before 10:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a local elementary school after reports that 38-year-old Jovan Orlando Bradshaw went to the school and took custody of a minor child in violation of a custody agreement.

It’s believed the girl is Bradshaw’s daughter. Rock Hill Police described the case as a custodial interference case.

Bradshaw then left the state and traveled into North Carolina with the minor child; Bradshaw was believed to be traveling north through North Carolina, possibly heading to Virginia.

At 1:13 p.m., Troopers located the suspect vehicle on I-85, just north of the Hillsborough Weigh Station in Orange County. A traffic stop was conducted, and the minor child was located safe in the vehicle.

"Trooper Z. D. Gibbs and Trooper S. A. Harvin were successfully able to locate and conduct a traffic stop of the suspect vehicle on I-85 at the 165-mile marker," wrote officials in a release.

Bradshaw was taken into custody for charges issued by the Rock Hill Police Department and the abducted 5-year-old girl was located safely in the vehicle; A second child, who had been missing since May of 2022, was also located in the vehicle.

Rock Hill police said later Monday night that Bradshaw engaged in a similar incident regarding the second child; Bradshaw took custody of this child from an elementary school in Rock Hill without the custody rights to do so and has been in Bradshaw's custody illegally for the last six months.

This incident occurred on May 23, 2022 but was not reported to Rock Hill Police at the time.

Bradshaw is now facing two Custodial Interference charges.

Both children are placed in the care of the Orange County Child Protective Services to be reunited with a parent.
