Troopers investigate wrecks in Wake, Johnston counties

Raleigh, N.C. — The Highway Patrol was investigating two wrecks that happened within 5 miles of each other late Wednesday into early Thursday.
Rebecca Elizabeth Evans, 26, of Angier, died after her SUV went off Mount Pleasant Road in Willow Spring and hit a tree, according to Trooper Butler.
In Raleigh, troopers charged Andrea Zani, 18, with careless and reckless driving after she lost control of her car, drove off the road and hit a utility pole on Mal Weathers Road around 12:45 a.m.
She was driving about 80 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone, according to Trooper Matt Cape.
Zani and her two passengers suffered scratches and bruises. Mal Weathers Road was closed while crews replaced the pole.
