Troopers: Allegedly impaired driver causes log truck flip, chain-reaction crash

A driver crossed the center line on Old Mt. Olive Highway in Wayne County Monday morning, causing a chain-reaction crash that ultimately involved four vehicles. No one was injured, according to the state trooper who responded to the crash.

DUDLEY, N.C. — A driver crossed the center line on Old Mt. Olive Highway in Wayne County Monday morning, causing a chain-reaction crash that ultimately involved four vehicles. No one was injured, according to the state trooper who responded to the crash.

The driver of a log truck said a truck swerved into his lane and hit his truck head-on, causing his truck to flip and his load of logs to spill onto the road.

A driver crossed the center line on Old Mt. Olive Highway in Wayne County Monday morning, causing a chain-reaction crash that ultimately involved four vehicles. No one was injured, according to the state trooper who responded to the crash.

The driver who caused the crash, whose name was not released, was charged with DWI and driving left of center, troopers said.

Two other vehicles were unable to stop and ran into the vehicles on the scene of the crash. Another pickup truck was damaged when it hit the logs.

It was expected that Old Mt. Olive Highway would be closed in both directions through Monday morning.
