Storms stay away; It's a good weekend to get wet
In typical August fashion, the Triangle will be hot and humid this weekend.
Posted — Updated"It's good weekend for the pool, the lake, any place you can get wet," WRAL meteorologist Elizabeth Gardner said. "Get out and enjoy the summer heat while it lasts."
Temperatures will reach 94 degrees on Friday, and the air will feel muggy.
Any storms that form will likely be in the north and eastern parts of North Carolina, leaving the Triangle with clear skies as the sun sets. Halifax, Warren and Northampton counties are under a level 1 risk for severe weather, with damaging winds and heavy rain possible.
On Saturday, areas between Wilson and Fayetteville and eastward are under a level 1 threat for severe weather.
High temperatures will stay in the low 90s Saturday and Sunday, but the storms stay away, Gardner said.
The best time to see the planet is an hour after sunset.
Overnight lows dip only into the 70s, and skies stay sunny and clear until about Sunday afternoon, when a slight chance to a thunderstorm creeps back in for Raleigh.
The seven-day outlook is for much of the same: sunny days with highs in the 90s and overnight lows in the mid-70s.
