RALEIGH, N.C.The Oakz opens its doors today for lunch and dinner. This new American restaurant is located in the 510 Glenwood South building in Raleigh. The menu looks great! We are especially excited about trying their Jambalasta, which features spicy Andouille sausage, shrimp, chicken, and their mac and cheese!
Salt and Lime Cabo Grill is getting closer to opening off Falls of Neuse Road in north Raleigh. A post on their Facebook page said they were hoping to open next week. This bar and grill with a coastal cuisine influence is located in the former home of Amedeo's North.
Another Mexican restaurant to report about: Triangle Food Guy and Triangle Explorer are reporting that El Tapatio is in the works in the Wakefield area of north Raleigh next to Sergio's Pizza. No opening date yet.
Hibernian is looking to reopen its Glenwood Avenue location the second week in February, according to a post on their Facebook page.
Cary's Waverly Place is getting a new sports bar. The Triangle Business Journal is reporting that Taco Mac Sports Grill is scheduled to open this summer. This Atlanta-based chain is known for its Buffalo chicken wings. They already have three locations in Charlotte.
Triangle Food Guy is reporting that cafe and wine shop Uncorked in north Raleigh has been sold. It will be closing for a couple weeks before reopening under the new owners on Feb. 6, according to their Facebook page.
Another one from TFG: A new pizza joint has opened in Durham. Papa Nizios is located in the former home of Big Cheese Pizza.
Also in Durham: cafe and bakery Daisy Cakes is opening up a one-of-a-kind dessert room in February. They have a Kickstarter campaign going right now to raise money for the project. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the space will be transformed into a more intimate, formal setting, and all attention will be focused on the desserts. Read more about the project here.
Crystal's Coffee and Tobacco shop off of Louisburg Road has closed its doors. In that same shopping strip, Toreros Mexican restaurant is planning to open a location. This would be their second Raleigh location. They also have one off Atlantic Avenue. The chain also has locations in Cary, Durham and Goldsboro.
Another closure to report: Spize Cafe on Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh has closed its doors. They made the announcement Wednesday on Twitter.
A slight setback for our friends over at Triangle Raw Foods. They have had to put plans to open their Cafe LOVE as a full-fledged restaurant on hold due to an issue with their parking lot not having enough required spaces. (You can read more about the setback here.) Bottom line, for now they will be operating as a "retail/commissary/catering" space. They will host cooking classes and can sell food that isn't made on site. We will let you know when they open.
Italian restaurant L'Uva is leaving the American Tobacco Campus and relocating to a larger space, according to their website. No word on where they are moving to. L'Uva gift cards are being honored at their sister restaurant Revolution.
