RALEIGH, N.C. — It's a short week for many of us, but there is still plenty to do!

Monday

It's Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, and if you aren't working, there are several events in the Triangle meant to honor Dr. King.

Triangle Interfaith Prayer Breakfast - This annual tradition, now in its 38th year, features a discussion from keynote speaker Rabbi Lucy H.F. Dinner, Senior Rabbi of Temple Beth Or in Raleigh, at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center in Durham. Breakfast is served from 6 to 8 a.m., and the program begins at 7:30 a.m. Watch the Interfaith Prayer Breakfast on WRAL-TV at 8:00 a.m., on FOX 50 at noon and on WRAL.com.
About a thousand people marched from the State Capitol to Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts Monday to mark Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday.
MLK Holiday March - This community march departs from State Capitol Building in downtown Raleigh. Dress warmly. Assembly begins at 10 a.m.
Birthday Party for MLK at Northgate Mall - Interactive activities, crafts, performances, service projects and birthday cake make up this free event celebrating Dr. King at Durham's Northgate Mall. Participants are asked to donate nonperishable food, gently used children's winter clothing and coats or new underwear/socks for local families in need.

Tuesday

Tuesday Night Trivia - Nickelpoint Brewing Company hosts a weekly trivia night on Tuesdays where participants can form teams and compete to win prizes. The game starts at 7 p.m.
Shen Yun Performing Arts
Shen Yun Performing Arts - This two-day show at Raleigh Memorial Auditorium brings to life 5,000 years of Chinese civilization through classical Chinese dance and music, featuring 100 artists, 400 costumes, and the only orchestra in the world featuring both classical Western and Chinese instruments.
Love Letters - This unique and imaginative piece explores the many forms of love shared by childhood friends who remain pen pals for over 50 years, sharing every aspect of their lives with one another despite living in separate worlds. See it through Jan. 21. at the A.J. Fletcher Opera Theater in the Duke Energy Center for the Performing Arts.

Wednesday

The Monti Story Slam: Secrets - Anyone with a story to tell has a chance to tell a one at this competitive event at Motorco. At each event, there will be eight storytellers chosen at random to tell a five-minute story. One winner will be declared at the end of the night.
Yoga Under the Stars - Start the New Year mindfully in Morehead Planetarium's dome theater beneath an array of stars. There will be four yoga sessions, each with a different feel to create a unique, immersive environment.
Participants wait for a session to begin at Inscape, a meditation studio in Manhattan, Jan. 3, 2018. Long a key part of meditation and some kinds of yoga, breathwork is now becoming a discipline in its own right, with proponents offering classes, one-on-one sessions and apps dedicated to the practice. Northgate Jams - Northgate Mall hosts jam sessions each week from 6 to 9 p.m. to play old time, bluegrass and country.
Trivia at Raleigh Brewing Co. - Trivia starts at 8 p.m.

Thursday

Breakfast for Dinner - Join Trophy Tap +Table from 4 to 10 p.m. for a feast featuring mimosa and waffle bars, cereal-inspired baked goods, breakfast burritos and more.
Chicken & Waffles
What We're Up Against - This Raleigh Little Theatre production is a funny, yet insightful, view of what it means to be female in a male-dominated career and one woman's response when she tires of slamming into the glass ceiling. See it through Jan. 28.

Friday

Little Willie Farmer - See this blues musician perform a live show at The Bullpen.
NC Symphony presents Music of the Rolling Stones - The symphony at Meymandi Concert Hall will celebrate one of the most iconic rock groups in history combining symphonic arrangements with a full rock band delivers the Stones' greatest hits including "Satisfaction," "Paint It, Black," "Ruby Tuesday" and many more.
Trash is treasure at Durham Scrap Exchange
Scrappy Hour - Inspired by the “Wine and Design” concept, the new “Scrappy Hour” classes at The Scrap Exchange are designed as a fun way to create unique DIY projects in a social setting. Classes will be taught by local artists and feature projects using locally-sourced reuse materials. Cost to participate is $25. Guests are encouraged to BYOB and snacks.
