RALEIGH, N.C. — Crews worked Saturday to remove a large tree that fell on the campus of North Carolina State University just a few feet from the school's bell tower.
It was not immediately clear if Friday's rain and winds played a role in toppling the tree, which blocked several lanes of the 2300 block of Hillsborough Street.

Crews used a large crane to lift the fallen tree along with a chainsaw to help cut it down before placing it into a wood chip machine.

Motorists were warned to expect delays.

It was not clear when the crews would complete the task of removing the tree.
