Some stores in University Mall were evacuated Tuesday afternoon when a trash truck emptying nearby Dumpsters caught fire, police said.

<b>CHAPEL HILL, N.C.</b> — Some stores in University Mall were evacuated Tuesday afternoon when a trash truck emptying nearby Dumpsters caught fire, police said.

The fire started in some cardboard in the rear container of the Republic Industries truck shortly after 2 p.m. The truck was near the Spice Street restaurant in the mall when the fire started.

The Chapel Hill Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. No injuries were reported.
