No Road Work Over Holiday Weekend

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — The state Department of Transportation said Wednesday that its contractors and crews would not be doing any road work over the Labor Day weekend, which the agency hoped would make travel easier.

No work will happen from 4 p.m. Friday until 9 a.m. Tuesday, NCDOT said in a statement.

In the Triangle, the Interstate 40 repaving project in Durham County already was scheduled not to have any work happening after 6 a.m. Friday, and the agency has not yet announced its schedule for next week.

This week, two of three eastbound lanes are being closed from 8 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday until 6 on Thursday and Friday mornings while crews lay a top coat of asphalt.
