Orange Road Construction Barrels Return To Cary Roadway

Posted Updated

CARY, N.C. — The construction barrels are back on Piney Plains in Cary, and drivers and area residents say they are not happy about it.

Crews resurfaced and widened the pothole-filled road over the winter, but crews are back and tearing up a two-mile stretch of the road from Dillard Drive to Cary Parkway.

Town engineers said the surface was too rough, and they've ordered the contractor to resurface the roadway.

"The asphalt that we got out on Piney Plains just wasn't acceptable to us," said Cary engineer Joe Moore. "And for a project that's going to cost $7.5 million, we're going to get it done right."

Although taxpayers won't have to pay more, the work won't be complete until late May.
