FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Bridge work at Interstate 95 Business and U.S. Highway 301 will mean three weeks of detours for Fayetteville drivers, the state Department of Transportation said Monday.

Beginning Tuesday, NCDOT will close the southbound side of the I-95 bridge over U.S. 301 and U.S. 301 underneath it.

The closing, which is schedule to last from 6 a.m. Tuesday through 6 p.m. on May 29, is needed because crews have to repair a bridge girder that an over-height tractor-trailer damaged, NCDOT said.

NCDOT suggests the following detour routes:

  • From I-95 South, take Exit 55 and follow Murphy Street (State Road 1832) to Dunn Road (S.R. 1838) to Dobbins Holmes Road (S.R. 1725) to Middle Road (S.R. 1728) to U.S. 301 to the Eastover Community.
  • From I-95 South, take Exit 52 (N.C. 24) to Exit 52B (westbound N.C. 24) to U.S. 301/I-95 Business (Grove Street) to Fayetteville.
  • From U.S. 301 North, take Murphy Road (S.R. 1832) onto the I-95 North ramp to Exit 58 (U.S. 13) to Pembroke Lane (S.R. 1933) to U.S. 301.
  • From U.S. 301 South, take Middle Road (S.R. 1728) to Dobbins Holmes Road (S.R. 1725) to U.S. 301/I-95 Business.
