Woman Killed in I-85 Wreck
A Middleburg woman was killed Friday afternoon in a one-car accident on Interstate 85 in Granville County, authorities said.

Melva Virginia Bowell, 58, was driving south on I-85 shortly before 5 p.m. when she ran off the road and hit a tree near Butner, said Trooper Jerry Music of the state Highway Patrol.
The vehicle overturned back onto the highway and caught fire, closing both southbound lanes for about an hour, Music said.
Bowell died at the scene, he said.
