Work To Repair Portion Of I-40 Slated For Friday

Posted Updated

RALEIGH, N.C. — Work to fix a rough patch on Interstate 40 should start by Friday.

Concrete is crumbling along 11 miles of I-40 between the Durham Freeway and Highway 15-501. Granite Construction has agreed to fix a small section near Highway 55.

The state Department of Transportation says motorists should expect lane closures from 8 p.m. until 6 a.m.

Even though it will be fixed, the DOT and the contractor still disagree over who is to blame for the bad pavement and who should pay to fix it.
