WAKE COUNTY, N.C. — Engineers with the state Department of Transportation are discussing ways to make the workzones safer after a wreck Monday and a
fatal tractor-trailer wreck
Friday.
A six-car pile up near Highway 55 Monday did not cause major injuries, but it did cause a major traffic jam.
DOT officials have asked the Highway Patrol to step up workzone speed enforcement.
Officials are considering the possibility of more workzone warning signs. While they work on a plan, the state asks drivers to slow down in the workzone.
