Wake County sheriff's deputies arrested a Winston-Salem man Wednesday on drug and weapons charges after a routine traffic stop turned up more than 2 pounds of methamphetamine.

After deputies pulled over Moises Avila Garcia, 28, of 118 Charleston Court, a K-9 alerted them to the presence of the drugs, authorities said.

In the car, deputies found the meth, valued at about $175,000, and a semi-automatic handgun with the serial number defaced. They charged Garcia with trafficking drugs and altering/removing the serial number from a handgun.

He was being held Thursday under a $2,010,000 bond.
