Traffic moving again after crash in EB lanes of I-40 at Wade Avenue

A traffic accident involving two vehicles resulted in the closure of several eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the Wade Avenue exit during the Wednesday afternoon rush hour commute.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A traffic accident involving two vehicles resulted in the closure of several eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 near the Wade Avenue exit during the Wednesday afternoon rush hour commute.

The crash occurred about 4:45 p.m. and left at least one vehicle on its side, according to Raleigh police.

It was not immediately clear how the accident occurred, but police said no injuries have been reported.

Police have not yet said if any charges will be filed in connection with the accident.

The crash was cleared from travel lanes shortly after 5 p.m., easing gridlock.
