Driver survives tractor trailer crash, explosion on I-95 near Rocky Mount

Rocky Mount, N.C. — All northbound lanes of Interstate-95 were closed Wednesday after a tractor trailer crashed and caught fire.
The crash occurred around 5 a.m. near Exit 127 for NC-97 near Rocky Mount when the truck hit a guard rail, overturned and exploded.
Officials have not announced what caused the crash but say the truck driver escaped with only minor injuries. No other cars were involved.
The road will likely be closed until 9 a.m., but crews told WRAL News they hope to open one lane soon.
As a detour, motorists must take Exit 127 (NC-97), take a right onto NC-97 and follow to NC-58. Next, take a left onto NC-58 and follow to Sandy Cross Road. Then, take a right on Sandy Crioss Road to re-access I-95 North.
