Tornado relief concert raises $21K for Raleigh victims

A concert held in Raleigh on Friday night helped raise $21,329 for victims of the April 16 tornado.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A concert held in Raleigh on Friday night helped raise $21,329 for victims of the April 16 tornado.

Twelve bands performed during the five-hour benefit concert, Rise Up Raleigh, at the downtown Raleigh Amphitheater. Donations were accepted in person, online and via text message. Text message donations are being accepted through Thursday. To donate, text the word "need" to 50555.

Money raised is being split among four organizations providing tornado relief – Centro International de Raleigh, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, Salvation Army of Wake County and Helping Hands Mission.
