What are the natural wonders of North Carolina? Land for Tomorrow, a coalition of conservation groups, is taking nominations on the natural treasures across the Old North State.
I thought we could give the group a hand. Our bloggers here certainly know and love North Carolina. The goal is to come up with a list of 10 natural wonders that reflect unusual landscape, natural features, wildlife and plant life.

Here are my nominations: Linville Gorge, Grandfather Mountain, Whitewater Falls, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Mt. Mitchell, New River, Lake Mattamuskeet, Roanoke River, Ocracoke Island and Lumber River.

Here are some other possibilities: Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Black River, Jockey's Ridge, Merchant's Millpond and Weymouth Woods.

Okay. What is your top 10?
