FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A 1-year-old boy nearly drowned at a pool in the 200 block of Post Avenue in Fayetteville Sunday evening, police said.

Tyrone Lock was in full cardiac arrest and had no pulse when firefighters arrived, police said. The boy's family had pulled him from an above-ground pool at about 7:30 p.m. and began trying to resuscitate him.

He was transported him to Cape Fear Valley Hospital, where physicians were able to revive him.

He was listed in critical condition at the hospital on Monday.

"God's not ready to take him yet," said his aunt, Nicki Scott, who added that the family is praying hard for his recovery.

The incident remains under investigation, but police said the incident appears to be an accident and no charges are expected.
