Toddler, grandmother injured in golf cart crash in Erwin
ERWIN, N.C. — A Dunn family is thankful their toddler survived a golf cart accident.

Erica Roy said her 2-year-old, Hudson, was run over by a golf cart on Monday after the Erwin Christmas Parade.

According to Roy, an object became lodged on the gas pedal of her brother's golf cart. Roy said the vehicle knocked down her mother, and a back tire ran over Hudson's abdomen.

Hudson was taken to WakeMed, where ultrasounds and X-rays showed no internal injuries. Hudson's grandmother hurt her knee and is sore but is recovering, Roy posted on Facebook.

"I am overwhelmed with gratitude that I am taking my baby home with me tonight," Roy wrote, saying the crash was the scariest thing that has ever happened to her.

Chief Ricky Blackmon said the incident is being investigated by the Erwin Police Department.

"Things could have been much worse," Roy said.
